What's with the Bush?

To men, a beard represents a lot of things; masculinity, self-statement, style, and a lot more. Men grow beards for reasons sometimes unfathomable to women; 1) They find stroking their beards enjoyable; 2) Beards make them look like Chuck Norris; 3) They are too lazy to groom

However, as women we believe that all that matters is what we think about beards. Especially this style that's been roaming the streets for quite a while.

These dapper lads do rock their beards like Elvis bell-bottomed pants. Kind of reminds of the Founding Fathers of the U.S., or perhaps the inventor of this, and the inventor of that. And oh, Aristotle! Now we are sounding very sarcastic aren't we? Maybe we aren't. Maybe we just need time to take this all in. Actually we all gotta admit they look pretty hot.

Hold your horses right there, this has got to be a tad over the top, hasn't it? Let's just stick to the dudes who found a replacement their increasingly unhipster hipster glasses and still look fine as hell.

Victoria Beckham Fall/Winter 2014

11:56 PM FashionTV Indonesia 0 Comments

Amidst the elaborate nuance of this season's designer releases, Victoria Beckham chose to do it like *a dude*. Minimal, sleek, straight on point. As if the monochrome trend could not get any more attention, Victoria Beckham Fall/Winter 2014 offers a different spectrum of fashion enthusiasts (The ones who actually live lives of colors, not monochromatic ones as those on Instagram. Seriously.) a range of black and white lovables with a hint of red. With boyish square cuts and heavy curb chains, we had to remind ourselves over and over again that, no, Phoebe Philo is still working at Cèline.

The knee-length coats and pointed lace-ups are the stars, for their masculinity and edge. Pleated skirts worn under waistcoats (or long tops) might just be the season's trend. We would look out for those on the streets. If anybody can man-dress a girl, that would be Posh.

10:00 PM FashionTV Indonesia 0 Comments

On June 11th, after a year of wallowing in the previously untouched realm of young Indonesian designers, Fashion First celebrated its success in making the realm more touchable, approachable and appealing. For its 1st anniversary, the boutique did not only put up the most fashionable event for the most fashionable people in town but also showcased what it has to offer in the future. It was revealed that Fashion First is to house designs from 5 talented young Indonesian designers namely Rinda Salmun, Day and Night by Yelle, Amanda Rahardjo, Lulu Lutfi Labibi and Vone by Ivonne.

At 4 pm, all the attendants gathered and sat down on the lined white seats in the middle of the room to watch the fashion show. Hosts Aline Adita, Wulan Guritno, and Miss Indonesia 2014 Maria Rahajeng watched with amusement while Ayla Dimitri decided that she too should walk with the models down the aisles.

Designer Patrick Owen did not want to miss the fun, hence his presence at the event. He was seen wearing his famous printed shirt while nicely talking to interviewers.

Despite it bring held during fasting period, everybody seemed to be energetic and bubbly, chatting and mingling around. Now you know where to go when in need of a serious retail therapy!

Didit Couture Fall/Winter 2014

Any Indonesian designer that has held a show in Paris Fashion Week should be proud of themselves. This Indonesian designer could not be prouder of himself (in the most humble way possible). Today we give you Indonesia's very own Didit Hediprasetyo that has made it big in the international fashion scene.

On July 6th, Didit had his 10th show in Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week to showcase his fall/winter 2014 couture collection. We tried to stay up to watch the live stream of the show but only managed to catch bits of it. We hope these pictures can do it justice.

From time to time, Didit continues to offer youthfulness through couture by not losing the essence of couture. This time, he brings casual to onto the couture scene where initially chambray dungarees would be an underdog. With the hands of a skilled couturier Didit put out there the sleekest casual pieces that make the ladies at the gala dinner you go to wish they could have outfits that they can go out in too.

The 40's did not seem to be out of place at the show. Didit's virtuosity with the decade's most coveted trends revived what was lost in the past 70 years; casual elegance. Skilfully tailored high-waisted trousers in various materials from denim to jacquard thrived to be the most glorious for their clever cut and silhouette. Little embellishments sprinkled tops and dresses, adding a little sparkle to the rather calm wardrobe. Couture becomes less and less of an occasional spur as it emerges with daywear.

Giambattista Valli Couture Fall/Winter 2014

Going through photos of Giambattista Valli Couture Fall/Winter 2014's show, we had a hard time deciding on two things; have Valli made up his mind? Flowers or stripes?; and; how are we gonna make up our minds? Flowers or stripes?

But then we thought why pick? Valli thinks it's totally ok to wear both at the same time. But then again, he's not helping us with choosing.

Shirtdresses dominate the show somehow despite its number on the catwalk being less than that of the flowery frocks. Shirtdresses, both symmetrical and asymmetrical, collared and collarless, wide and tapered built the collection. Valli made shirtdresses more versatile, not only for casual day but also for a dressy evening.

Then there were these dresses with tuille skirts peppered with flower embroideries, and a chance of stripes. And we did not know mink could get along really well eith flowers, but the did by the hands of Giambatistta Valli. Just give them a look:

The white headbands worn by all of the models added a chic travelling-Frenchwoman look. All in all we agree Giambattista Valli did an outstanding job on this one.
